CURRENT CELEBRATIONS
Joan Manuel
Joan Manuel (née Wydro)
Joan was born and raised in the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia, graduated from Frankford High School, and worked as a secretary at Philco. After moving to Riverside where she raised her family, she enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower garden and growing the finest Jersey tomatoes. She also loved planning trips to the Jersey shore. Joan later managed several outlet stores in Burlington and also fulfilled her lifelong dream of vacationing in Hawaii.
Joan was known for her incredibly sharp sense of humor. She loved to read, and taught herself many new skills by being a regular book borrower at the Riverside Public Library. She enjoyed all types of puzzles and was an expert crossword solver. She always kept up on current events and even had a few of her opinion letters published in the Burlington County Times.
Joan’s family includes her sister, Evelyn Wydro of Philadelphia, her daughters Lyn McDermott and Sue Manuel, and her son Scott Manuel and his wife Stephanie Rossino. Joan’s grandchildren are Devon McDermott Schlegel, Shane Manuel, Tyler McDermott, Justin Rossino and the late Carl Rossino. Her great-grandchildren are Greyson, Drew Dezi, Teagen and Arlo.
The family will celebrate Joan’s life of 91 incredible years privately. Donations in Joan’s memory can be made to Samaritan Hospice at SamaritanNJ.org/Donate or mailed to: Samaritan Gift Processing Center, PO Box 71425, Philadelphia PA 19176-1425.
