John Clark

John and his wife, Norma shared a love story that spanned an incredible 75 years, having met in high school and stood by each other’s side through thick and thin. Their enduring love was a testament to the power of a lifelong partnership.

A strikingly handsome man, John was known for his charisma and warm spirit. His infectious smile and gentle demeanor endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He approached life with a zest for adventure, having traveled to 40 states across the United States and explored the beauty of Bermuda and Canada on memorable road trips with his lovely wife Norma. John was a veteran and served in the Korean War.  He enjoyed his time golfing at Willowbrook Country Club.

His skills in the kitchen were only surpassed by his ability to spread kindness and positivity. He lived by the mantra, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all,” a philosophy that endeared him to all who crossed his path, especially to his children.

Sports played a significant role in his life. John was an avid Eagles fan. From his high school days playing football to participating in golf and baseball, he embraced the spirit of competition with grace and skill. His prowess extended to field events like shot put, showcasing his versatility and athleticism.

During summer months you could find John spending time on his beloved boat watching sunsets as much as he could that he kept at the Dredge Harbor Marina. He named his boat “My Pearl”. John loved trips to the Casino and Lancaster, and enjoyed listening to country music especially Willie Nelson.

However, his true joy and fulfillment came from being a grandfather. The grandkids were his everything, and he dedicated boundless time and patience to them. Nothing was ever too much for John when it came to his family, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched. He would often say “the sun rises and sets on his grandchildren”.

John is survived by his wife Norma, two daughters: Linda (Jack) Joo and Cindy (Michael) McCloskey; grandchildren: Melanie (Jack), Bobby, Megan (Mark), Mikey, Julie, and Sarah (Vince); great-grandchildren: Jackie, Chevy, Georgie, and Pearl; his brother: Joe (Ceilie) Otto; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his brother Charles (Marion) Clark.

Come celebrate 91 years on Monday from 7pm-9pm and Tuesday from 10am-11am at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where there will be an 11am service. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
