Mary “Ginny” McKendrick
Mary Virginia “Ginny” McKendrick
Passed away on Saturday November 30th surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born December 13th, 1942 to Francis and Mary Virginia Caputi, the oldest of five children and raised in the Ashland section of Cherry Hill, NJ. Ginny was a proud graduate of Camden Catholic High School class of 1960. Raised a devout Catholic, Ginny lived her faith regularly attending mass and never missing a Sunday, even on vacations she always found a church to attend.
In May 1968 Ginny would meet the love of her life Jim during a chance encounter while searching for the restroom in a Cherry Hill restaurant. They’d be engaged by July and married the following April. Their 55 year marriage was blessed with two children (Jimmy and Nancy) and three beautiful granddaughters( Chelsea, Carlyn and Ainsley). In addition to being a wife, mother and doting grandmother Ginny was a secretary and executive assistant at American Casein and Custom Drying in Burlington Twp. for 34 years before her retirement in 2012. Ginny’s favorite title in life was that of “Grammy”, she loved spending time with her beloved granddaughters and was a fixture at all of their school and sporting events. She was also an avid Eagles fan who could be heard on Sunday’s yelling at the TV.
Ginny’s happiest times were probably found when she was with her ENTIRE family especially on the beach in Wildwood or Ocean City. A “Caputi – Hartman Day at the Beach” could take up an entire beach block, everyone knew that family was most important to Ginny: family always came first and there was no better way to get everyone together.
Ginny was predeceased by her loving parents and brother Thomas Caputi. She is survived by her loving husband James, son James Jr (Valerie), daughter Nancy (Darren) DiLuigi, granddaughters Chelsea (Nick) Cattolico, Carlyn and Ainsley McKendrick. She is also survived by her brother’s Michael (Kathleen) Caputi, Paul (Sandra) Caputi, sister Debby (Hal) Gerhardt, sister-in-law Virginia Publicover , loving nieces, nephews and cousins and her best friend of over 60 years Carol Stewart.
