Peter Albert Chiaccio

Peter Albert Chiaccio

Peter Albert Chiaccio, age 83, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025. Born on October 9, 1941, Peter was known for his kind heart, great personality, and loving nature. He had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome, always offering a warm smile and open arms.

A proud Riverside native, Peter knew every street in town and where everyone lived. He was an all-star athlete in High School, playing football with such passion and skill that he was inducted into the Riverside Hall of Fame. After high school, he attended Staunton Military Academy and Wake Forest College. His love for sports extended beyond his playing days, as he took on the roles of a baseball commissioner and a coach for his children. He was also a dedicated member of the Riverside Historical Society, ensuring the town’s rich history was preserved for generations to come.

Peter’s door was always open, especially in the summer when his backyard and in-ground pool became the neighborhood spot. Nothing brought more joy to him than his friends and family hanging out at his house.

His greatest joy was being “Pop-Pop” to his grandchildren, cheering them on at every stage of their lives. But his deepest love was reserved for his wife, Joan. Their high school romance evolved into a 62-year love story, a testament to the enduring power of love and a source of inspiration for all who crossed their path.

Peter is survived by his wife Joan, their three children: Kenneth (Jeanne), Joseph (Susan), Kimberly Nutt (Jeffrey Nutt), brother: Michael (Niki), 12 grandchildren: Kenny, Liam, Brenna, Olivia, Emily, Isabelle, Joey, Karly Nickels (Steven Nickels), Courtney, Ashley, Jeffrey and Amanda; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Mildred Chiaccio, step mother Edith Chiaccio and his sister Donna Plowman (William).

Come celebrate 83 years on Saturday March 1, 2025 from 9:00am-10:45am at Resurrection Parish, Holy Name (Delran NJ site), where there will be an 11:00 am mass. Interment private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: stjude.org
