Susan Dorothy Stewart Mertzig

August 24, 1960 – December 8, 2024

Susan Mertzig, 64, of Delran, New Jersey, passed away on December 8, 2024. Born in Cherry Hill, NJ, she was preceded in death by her parents George and Dorothy Stewart, her husband Anthony Mertzig, and her brother George Stewart. She is survived by her loving siblings Michele Peck (Stephen) of Melbourne, FL; Michael Stewart of Naples, FL; Steven Stewart (Denise) of Raleigh, NC; and Richard Stewart (Rebecca) of Oak Hill, VA.

Susan loved and was loved by her cherished nieces and nephews, including Jeff Stewart (Natalie) of Cherry Hill, NJ; Karen Peck of Los Angeles, CA; Deborah Peck (David Roe) of Cocoa Beach, FL; Georgia Williams (Theo Paraskevas) of Fairfax, VA; Stephen Peck (Alison) of Melbourne, FL; Michael Stewart (Michelle), Erica Stewart, and Melissa Stewart (Steve Shrom) of Somers Point, NJ; Cory Stewart and Collin Stewart (Katie) of Raleigh, NC; Jonathon Stewart of Richmond, VA; and Emily Stewart of Washington DC. Beloved  grandnieces and grandnephews include Avery, Addison, Shepherd, Shenandoah, Samson, and Watson.

A graduate of Christ the King Catholic School and Cherry Hill East High School, Susan built a beautiful life with Anthony in Medford Lakes, NJ, where they owned and operated Mertzig Enterprises, managing numerous South Jersey salons. Later, they retired to Naples, FL, enjoying family, golf, and country club life. After Anthony’s passing, Susan returned to New Jersey with her beloved chihuahua, Baileys, spending her remaining years close to loved ones and beloved Uncle Phill.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Holy Eucharist Roman Catholic Church, 344 Kresson Road, Cherry Hill, NJ, including a Requiem Mass starting at 11:30am. A Celebration of Life will follow at Kaminski’s Bar & Grill, located at 1424 Brace Road, Cherry Hill, NJ. Please join us in honoring Susan with stories, laughter, and a toast in her memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
