A proud graduate of Riverside High School’s Class of 1958, Sue embraced every opportunity her school years had to offer. She was active in numerous clubs, participated in cheerleading and basketball, and formed friendships that would last a lifetime. Those high school friends remained a part of her life, affectionately calling themselves “The Ladies Who Lunch,” gathering regularly to share meals, laughter, and stories that spanned decades.
As a young girl she was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice, Sue was a devoted member of the choir at St. Peter’s Parish, where she first learned to sing the Mass in Latin.
After High School, Sue earned a job at RCA where she met the love of her life, the late Bill. Together they shared 51 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, laughter, and unconditional love. And for 34 years Sue worked in Administration at Delran High School where she retired. Sue found her real calling later in life as “Mommom.” Her grandchildren were her greatest joys and she made sure they knew it. Summers were spent making memories with endless trips to the shore, teaching them to swim, sharing her famous tuna noodle casserole recipe, and taking family vacations to the shore and Disney. Later becoming a great-grandmother brought Sue a whole new chapter of happiness.
When she wasn’t surrounded by family, Sue could often be found with a good book in hand, relaxing by the pool, or enjoying long walks along the promenades in Sea Isle City and Cape May. Sue was a lover of the ocean: salt water taffy and plates of crabs were her favorites. Her shore house in Cape May County was more than just a favorite destination, it was her sanctuary, the place where she felt most at peace and where countless family memories were made.
Sue is predeceased by her husband Bill, and her siblings Andrea and James.
She is survived by her children William (Colleen) Szychoski and Lea (Ed) Marter, her grandchildren Susan A. Szychoski (Kenneth) and Kaitlyn (Christian) Torres, her great-grandchildren Kenneth III, Kinsley, and Briggs, and her brother Andrew (Katherine) Gross, along with many relatives and friends.
Come celebrate 85 great years on Saturday July 11th, from 9am – 9:45am at Jesus the Good Shepherd Parish in Beverly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am. Interment immediately to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Riverside. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospital of Philadelphia, The American Cancer Society, and The American Heart and Stroke Association.
