Dolores Freynik

Dolores Freynik

She found her real calling late in life: Dolores loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a built-in babysitter and always on the sidelines for all the grand’s games. Perhaps it was just an outgrowth of her years as a mom; always the funnest mom in the neighborhood. When she got married, she was required to learn to make rosu and galumpke, Ray’s two favorites (a running joke for the Freyniks.) Much of her food came from her own garden: tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and zucchini. And she hosted most of the holidays; Ray would do all the lifting, while she did the preparation and cooking. She took the time to get away with family. In her younger years, camping with her daughter in Maine and Vermont and later in life, summers in Sea Isle and the Ocean City boardwalk with her grands. And if her T.V was on she’d be checking out some Everybody Loves Raymond and Andy Griffith.

Dolores was the wife of the late Raymond and is survived by her daughter, Susan Joo; grandchildren, Kevin (Michelle) Joo and Kylie Joo and great-grandchildren, Alana and Brynlee. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Florence VanSciver and the sister of the late George (Agnes) VanSciver and Alfred (Helen) VanSciver Jr. In her last years she remained very close to Alfred and Diane VanSciver and sister-in-law, Ida Parker and Charlene Lazarick.
