Doris Cripps

Doris was a homemaker in every sense of the word. Not just cooking and cleaning but wallpapering and refinishing furniture. Her happy place was definitely down the shore. She had a home in Wildwood for many years; most days found her on the beach or fishing in the bay. When her husband retired, they joined a bowling league and were able to do a little travelling in their RV, attending rallies everywhere from San Antonio to New Orleans to Myrtle Beach. Every year for many decades she cooked a big Thanksgiving dinner and loved to gather her family around her. She was determined and youthful and her mind stayed sharp throughout her life. If her T.V. was on, she’d be checking out the Gameshow Channel, and she made the best pineapple upside down cake.
As young Doris Haring, she met a handsome boy at grade school in North Philly. They reconnected years later at the roller skating rink, and she and the late Charles shared a 71-year marriage blessed by children Russell, Karen (Anthony) DeAngelo, and the late Gary; and later by 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Come celebrate 96 great years Tuesday, April 16, 10 to 10:30 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside where there will be a 10:30 service. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntington Valley, PA.
