He told it like it was; Gene was straight to the point. And generous to a fault; shirt off his back kind of a guy. Most likely you’d find him outdoors: he fished and hunted and dedicated much of his time to the Delran Junior Marksman Program. Fishing usually was for the Jersey shore and he used his yearly trip to visit Oklahoma as an excuse to do some deer hunting. His garden provided a bounty to friends and family: eggplants, peppers, vegetables, daffodils, and geraniums. He served our nation for 37 years in the Navy and the Naval reserves and worked in electrical supply for West Philadelphia Electric and Billows. He was a strict dad but only because he wanted quality children, but he found his real calling late in life; that of a grandfather. Lots of trips to ball games, the zoo and the grands would be at his side, rods in hand doing a little fishing. He was a man of his faith and served as an usher at Jesus the Good Shepherd,
6:30 p.m. mass for many years. After his retirement gave even more of his time and served several masses a week. He was also active in the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his children: Nancy (Ron) Lehm, Barbara (William) Smith, and Michael (Jackie) Fusco; grandchildren:, Ashley, Melissa, Ronnie, Kyle, William Jr., Kristin, Bella and Michael; great grandchildren: Scarlett, Liliana, and Riley. He is also survived by his good friend Anne Downey.
