Eleanor Duggan
Eleanor Duggan
Eleanor knew that there are shortcuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them. Although she was great at just about every kind of dancing there was, ballroom was her forte. Whether it was 60 years ago at a USO dance or at her great-niece’s Bat Mitzvah, her moves were always beautiful and elegant. But even off the dance floor she was always one to be noticed. She was always impeccably dressed, and with her weekly trips to the hairdresser she always made sure her appearance was perfect. Likewise, one would be hard-pressed to find a fleck of dust in her home. If cleanliness is next to Godliness, her home could be a church. But never one to sit and stare at the walls, she could often be found with her bowling league, traveling abroad and, whenever possible, cutting a rug.rnHaving grown up in Astoria, NY, it was there that the fancy footwork of a young man named Walter Duggan caught her attention. Their dance would last until his passing in 1999. Together, they were blessed by their children: Catherine Duggan of Philadelphia, John Joseph of Delran and Robert T. of Philadelphia. Eleanor is also survived by her sister Elvira, and brother Leonard. She is predeceased by her siblings Celeste, Irene, Maime and Albert. rnCome celebrate Eleanor’s 83 dance-inspired years (Feb. 18, 1927-Sept. 25, 2010) Wednesday from 10 AM at Resurrection Parish, Holy Name Site, Delran, where Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.rn – See more at: https://sweeneyfamilyroom.com/eleanor-duggan/#sthash.zcSxnVZK.dpuf
