Ernest “Bill” W. RogersrnrnIt’s not true that nice guys finish last. They are winners before the game even starts. With an easygoing spirit, it was rare for Bill to get upset about anything. Instead, his focus was always outward. His need to help others led him to serve with the Washington Fire Company for more than 25 years, as well as with the Delanco Ambulance Squad. Time spent with his sons was time well spent. He was always up for a trip to the water park, Great Adventure, could even beat them on the Playstation and always looked forward to their yearly trip to Walt Disney World. A born trucker, he had been on the road from the time he could see over the steering wheel. Eventually he’d come to have his own trucking company. Fitting then, that even in his off time he enjoyed taking a drive, to nowhere in particular, just to take a ride.rnIn his teen years, a stop into the Snack Shop in Delanco led to him meeting a young lady named Linda (nee Severns). Shortly after high school they were married. Their lives were blessed by their sons Eric and Ryan, both of Delanco. He is the brother of Patricia Danley of VA, and the late George, Jr. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. rnCome celebrate 66 easy going years Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where the service will be at 7 PM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Washington Fire Company PO Box 5021 Delanco, NJ 08075. Come share a memory of Bill at SweeneyFH.comrn
