George J. Holzmann, Jr.
George J. Holzmann, Jr.
It has been said that the wise man speaks only when he has something to say. For George this meant always having the right thing to say to his children. From the days he handed down discipline, to when he helped them with life’s hardest decisions, he always knew how to guide them. During his 27 years at Hoeganaes in Riverside he always showed them the value of a strong work ethic. rnWhen not rooting for the Phillies and Eagles he had much quieter pursuits. His geraniums, hibiscus and tulips always showed how much he loved to garden. He was always up for a trip to the shore. A day at the beach or spent fishing was great, an afternoon at the casino even better. George had the two qualities every good poker player needs; he knew how to read people and had the patience to wait for good cards. rnHaving graduated from Riverside High School in 1941, George proudly served the Army during WWII. However, his greatest adventure began when a friend introduced him to a young woman named Marie (Haran). Although it took him awhile to win her over, it would not be long until their 63 year marriage would begin. Together their lives were blessed by their three children: George (Jeannie) of Fl., Greg (Donna) of Riverside and Donna Holzmann (Angelo Consiglio) of Bordentown, and again by their two grandsons Greg, Jr. and Jonathon as well as their great-grandson Zachary.rnCome celebrate George’s 84 wonderful years (Nov. 11, 1925-Oct. 16, 2010) Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday 9-10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside.
