James (Jim) S. Smith, 81, of Ventnor, NJ and formerly Delran, NJ passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 surrounded by his loving sons and family at his home.
Jim was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. He married in 1952 to the late Edna R. Smith (nee Linz) also of Philadelphia.
Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After Army service they moved to Delran, NJ in 1956 where they raised four sons. He retired from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union in 1997 and spent his retirement years at his Ventnor home where he enjoyed life at the Jersey Shore.
He is survived by four sons, James (Tracy) of Birmingham, England, grandchildren Emily and Sophie; Joseph of Indian Mills, NJ, grandchild Corey; Jack (France) of Woodland Township, NJ, grandchildren Vanessa LeDee (Jason) and Dean (Desirae); and Jason of Delran, NJ; and his brother William (Penny) Isaac of Villas, NJ, nephews Billy and Brian.
