Janice Jacoby

Janice Jacoby

Janice saw the good in everyone and within minutes of meeting her you’d swear that you’d have known her a lifetime. When she showed up, there’d be smiles all around; half of it was a reflection of her care and concern for everyone, the other half was that she’d have a few bags of candy on hand to distribute. Of course, her sweet tooth was notorious: before ordering dinner, she’d ask to see the dessert menu. Janice loved a good party: If you told her to bring something for dessert it would take a few trips to the car to deliver the bounty. She baked the best brownies, and her strawberry pretzel salad was to die for.  She loved to play a little cards, blackjack and three card poker at the casinos and pinochle amongst her friends. Janice had a soft spot for animals; her pets ranged from dogs to ferrets. Her use of the language was flexible and creative, constantly inserting Janicisms here and there. If her T.V was on she’d be cheering for the Phils and the Eagles or taking in some gameshows and she spent her earlier years as a driver for the disabled.

She’d meet a handsome boy named Thomas “Jake” Jacoby at Riverside High School. The Class Flirt falling for the Best Dressed. The two would share a 56-year marriage blessed by a son, the late Tommy. She is survived by her two brothers: Don Henry (Pat) and Walt; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Carol and her parents Helen and Walter Henry.

Family will celebrate 78 great years on October 2, 2024 at Sweeney Funeral Home, 337 Bridgeboro Street, Riverside NJ 08075 from 10am-12pm, where there will be a 12pm service.
