Joan Giglio

Joan Giglio

Joan Giglio, 90, of Delanco, New Jersey, passed away peacefully having lived a full and vibrant life, where her kindness, generosity, and energy never seemed to slow down, even at 90.

Loving, forgiving, and easy to get along with, Joan was naturally social. She had a gift for conversation and a way of making people feel comfortable and welcome from the moment they met her. Simply by being herself, she left a lasting impression on everyone around her.

Progressive for her time and always on the go, Joan believed in staying active. She was a proud member of groups such as the Newton’s Landing “Divas”, where she and her friends enjoyed playing games, dining, and spending time together.

Joan was the definition of a “doer.” She kept herself busy, maintained a tidy home, and ran a tight ship with quiet power and a loving touch. She had a no-nonsense way about her, but she also knew when to let the little things go. Joan loved to cook and took great pride in feeding the people she loved. Her artichokes were a signature dish the family always looked forward to.

Gardening brought her great joy, and she carefully tended to her flower beds with pride. Summers were often spent at Long Beach Island, the beach she loved so much. Time there with the sun, sand, and ocean—especially with family close by—were among her favorite simple pleasures.

Joan and her husband, the late Lawrence, shared many adventures together over the years, traveling throughout Europe, enjoying cruises, and touring the western United States. She cherished her family, including her sisters, brother and mother, and remained close with them throughout her life. Joan also had a big heart for animals and showed them great compassion and care.

Above all else, Joan loved being a wife, a mother, and especially a grandmom. Her granddaughter, Christina, held a very special place in her heart, and Joan spoiled her with love, home-cooked meals, unwavering support, and special trips together.

Joan is predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Giglio Sr.; her mother, Jean Cammarota; and her sister, Gloria Cammarota. She is survived by her children Vincent (Kim) Giglio; her stepson Lawrence Giglio Jr. (Veronica); her daughter-in-law Patricia Brand-Giglio; her granddaughter Christina Giglio; and her siblings Patricia (Richard) Finley and Thomas (Lisa) Cammarota, along with many other relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joan’s 90 wonderful years on Thursday, March 12th from 6–8 PM and again on Friday, March 13th from 8–9:30 AM at Sweeney Funeral Home, 337 Bridgeboro Street, Riverside. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM at Resurrection Parish (St. Casimir site). Interment will immediately follow at Holy Assumption Cemetery in Roebling.
