“Jukebox Johnny” was an artistic genius. Though he wasn’t a trained musician, he played the guitar, keyboard and accordion well enough to be integral in several area bands, wrote songs and bumped elbows with many musical elites in the area. He also influenced another generation of musicians coordinating the music and jazz program at The Hun School of Princeton. And it wasn’t just in music that he inspired kids; he also taught both 2 and 3 dimensional art: pottery was his passion but he also dabbled in painting. His Beverly home was filled with both his own creations and those his students had given him over the years. He loved the sounds of Van Morrison and Dr. John and took in a bad horror film from time to time with his daughter.
John met a pretty girl and fellow musician at a folk festival. John and Susan Roth spent 30 years together. He is survived by his daughter, Megan (Chris) Mascianglo, his brother, Edward (Sharon), his sisters, Judy (David) Doyle and Nancy (Bob) Driscoll; and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
