Passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the age of 87.
Joe was a butcher and manager of the meat department for A&P / Super Fresh for 43 years. He was born and raised in Camden, NJ and served in the National Guard and US Army. Later years found him working part time at Sears automotive, spending time with his family and grand children, and watching classic movies, especially if the Duke was in them. Joe also enjoyed Keno at the Taj as well as the Rising Star Casino on the Ohio River.
Beloved husband of the late Mary (Farias) Eckert. Son of the late Joseph L. Sr. and Edith R. Eckert. Joe and Mary were married for 59 years. Since Mary’s passing, Joe maintained his residence in Riverside, and was also in the care of his daughter, LouAnn and son-in- law John in Blue Ash Ohio. Joe and Mary were blessed by three children, the late Joseph Laird III, LouAnn Eckert-Lynch (John) and Donna Ruberti (Fred); a daughter-in-law Anne Marie Kelley (John); 8 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
Joe has touched so many people in both NJ and OH. He was a true gentleman; kind, friendly, had a great sense of humor in a very unassuming way. While he loved his time in Cincinnati, his heart and his real home was always in Riverside, NJ.
