She always had one goal in mind: Judy wanted to raise quality kids. She was a tough woman who told it like it was; it was Judy’s way or the highway. Cutting corners was never her thing, everything she made was from scratch: her wings marinated for three days; she’d scoff at cake mixes. That may have been because of her never-ending energy: she’d return from a full day’s work and clean her home top to bottom; she even had one of those rooms that was off limits. The family that fishes together, stays together: in her spare time she’d head off for the shore for a little surf fishing with her husband.
As a waitress she’d meet a customer named Sam Hammond, a romance that would lead to marriage. Judy was the mother of the late Dean Walter, Todd Walter, Gary Hammond, Craig Hammond, Mark Hammond (Sheila), Kirk Hammond and Barry Hammond; grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of many. She is survived by her siblings, Lee Smolda (Ann), Craig Smolda (Carol), Ronnie Smolda and Janis Smolda.
