It’s been said that charity sees the need, not the cause. As such, Lou was always fast to help those around him. When he once found a friend down on his luck, his generous nature inspired him to provide what was necessary for him to get his life back on track, while never looking for anything in return. Likewise, he was always there to provide for his family. When his children were young, he was fast to volunteer as their football coach, he took a job at Holy Cross High School to make sure his son Len could go to school there and he was always there to help with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His adventurous side was apparent in his younger years; he proudly served in the Army, loved riding his motorcycle and could often be found on his boat, which was more for skiing than fishing. Although he had since laid down his water skis, until last year he could still be found with his snow skis, tackling fresh powder.rnHis first date with a young woman named Laura (nee Maduzia) ended with a motorcycle accident. However, it wasn’t enough to deter their feelings for each other. Within a few years they were married. Before her passing last year, their lives were blessed by their three children: Louis III, Leonard and Larry; their three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Louis is also survived by his brother John and sister Catherine Green.rnCome celebrate Lou’s 74 years Monday 6-8 PM and Tuesday from 10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside where the service will be Tuesday at 11 AM.
