Marie Holzmann

Marie Holzmann

February 11, 1928 – November 30, 2023

Marie (Haran) Holzmann, a lifetime resident of Riverside, NJ passed away peacefully on November 30, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late George J. Holzmann for 63 years. Together their lives were blessed by their three children.

Besides being the best mom, Marie worked at PSE&G in the office for many years as a telephone operator. She loved her work and the many close friends she made over the years.

She was a shopaholic at heart, always indulging in the newest fashion trends. Every Friday Marie and her daughter Donna, would head to the mall for a shopping trip, pick up some delicious food, and have a mother daughter sleepover. These were the things that Marie loved most.

Along with her great style, Marie was also known for some of her great dishes. She could cook up chicken pot pie, beef stew, and roast beef in no time, and make the most delicious deserts, which everyone raved over. Marie used her cooking skills to gather her family around the table to make memories that will last a lifetime.

In the summers Marie would head down to Long Beach Island with her family to her favorite beach. She enjoyed warm weather and sunny days. She liked to venture down to Florida to visit her son and daughter, George and Jeannie. Marie also liked visiting Atlantic City for the casinos with her late husband George.  In her spare time you would find her watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune or doing word puzzles.

Marie had a loving and compassionate spirit. She opened her arms to anyone.  She loved being a grandmother, and eventually a great-grandmother. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her world.

She proved her strength and determination when her husband passed. She carried on through the years and was able to remain in her house with the help of her son Greg and his wife Donna. Over the years she faced some health problems, but she was a true fighter and inspiration to those around her.

Marie is survived by her children: George (Jeannie), Greg (Donna), and Donna (Angelo); grandson: Jonathan C. (Leah); great-grandchildren: Zachary and Dylan; her sister: Helen Enderle. She was predeceased by her husband George, her sister Janie, brothers Jack, Billy, and Jimmy and her grandson Gregory.

Come celebrate Marie’s 95 wonderful years Saturday, December 9th, 2023 from 9am-10am at Resurrection Parish, (Holy Name site), Conrow Rd., Delran. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.

Deepest sympathy to the entire Holzmann family. Your Mom was the true matriarch of your family. I worked alongside Donna for years and would hear wonderful stories of your Mom and how devoted she was to her family. May she rest in peace and be reunited with her husband and family in the eternal arms of our Lord.
Sending hugs to all but especially to my friend Donna.

Marie was such a beautiful person who was quick to see the beauty and good in others. She was always fun to be with.
Donna, you are very much her daughter and I know she was always your best friend. I am so sorry and sad for your loss.
May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Marie, we never met, but I feel like I know you through the eyes of your son George who lovingly spoke of you often.
All your strength, kindness and family values are reflected in your children. George recently told me that all you wanted for Christmas was to “fly up and be with Daddy for the day.”
