Mary Alice WalkerrnrnrnFor Mary Alice being Catholic was more of an adverb than an adjective: she was one of the founding members of Holy Name Church in Delran, a CCD teacher from the church’s inception, a Eucharistic minister and was active in Altar and Rosary Society. She also served as a teacher’s aide at Cambridge Ave. School in Delran. Being a grandmother and great-grandmother was always priority one. She taught all her grandkids to swim and her pool insured they’d always be close. Her Delran neighborhood was like a second family. In her spare time she loved to root for the Irish and her entertainment tastes ranged from One Tree Hill to M.A.S.H. to anything with Cary Grant. She was a mother figure to all who were around her and even those who cared for her for short periods of time would check in on a regular basis, just to see how she was doing. rnMary Alice was attracted to a friendly and courteous man named Thomas on a bus. They would soon be dating and marry. Their 30 year marriage would be blessed by two children: Thomas and Mary Pat and her husband, James; grandchildren: Amy, Heather, Bridget and Jennifer and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, William Manley and a sister, Margaret Sweeney.rnCome celebrate 85 motherly years Thursday 7 to 9 pm at Holy Name Church, 260 Conrow Road, Delran.
