Mary was never more at home than when she was out in her yard gardening and making sure everything was just so, though she had a tough time avoiding the poison Ivy. She may have been a strict mom but only because she wanted quality children. And they sure loved her cooking: chicken and dumplings, rice pudding and she even made her own Chinese food. Mary loved getting away on any kind of vacation: anywhere down the shore and especially the Boards in Ocean City and Cape May. She enjoyed the occasional glass of wine and a hot toddy, may have had a slight addiction to QVC and played a mean game of pinochle. She was strong in her faith: she prayed daily, watched the Catholic Channel and was a 41-year member of ST. Joseph’s Church, Beverly where she sang in the choir. Mary was born in Bridgeton and graduated from Bridgeton High. She worked for many years as a Nurse’s Aid with special needs children.
Mary was predeceased by her husband David. She is survived by her children, Suzanne (Dan) Haslam, David (the recently deceased Michelle) and Marybeth (Larry) Bunkowski; her grandchildren, Dr. Melissa (Mike) Haslam, Michael Bunkowski and Sarah (Robert) White; her great granddaughter, Skylar; siblings, Dennis (Lisa) Waechter, Timmy Waechter and Jimmy (Stacey) Waechter; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother Raymond (Betsy) Waechter.
Come celebrate 78 great years Friday 8:30 to 9:45 at Sweeney Funeral Home, where there will be a 9:45 service. Interment Beverly National Cemetery.
