Mildred Jacoby

The role that a mother fills can never be understated. In the words of George Washington “All I am, I owe to my mother.” Nothing was more important to Mildred than her responsibilities as a mother. The oldest of 6 children, she took on this role at an early age. And when blessed with children of her own there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She was even there to take care of her own mother when she took ill. But for Mildred there was no such thing as “extended” family. Come Sunday siblings, parents, cousins, nieces and nephews would be in her home for dinner. And with them always on her mind, there was never a holiday, birthday or anniversary when they wouldn’t find a card in their mailbox. But when not tending to her home, she could be found giving thanks in church. Seldom a day went by where she did not attend mass.rnMildred is the wife of the late Anthony, with whom she was married for 30 years before his passing in 1967. She is the mother of Robert (Joan) of Atlanta, GA, and Thomas (Janice) of Delanco, loved to spoil her 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Joseph Capone of Riverside and sister Rita Scafiro of Cinnaminson, as well as her many cousins, nieces and nephews. rnCome celebrate 95 motherly years, Sunday 6-8 PM and Monday 9:30-10:30 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 at St. Peter’s Church, Riverside, with burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
