Paul “Peck” Ellis

For Paul, there was nothing he couldn’t create with his hands. At his home in Delanco, there was never a need for contractor. Whether it be a new kitchen, bathroom or converting a crawl space into a rec room it was well within his ability. But perhaps his favorite thing to busy his hands with were his racecars. Together with his brother, Harry, they started building masterpieces. Over the years, his cars amounted a mass of victories in the United Racing Club league, were driven by legendary drivers including Bobby Marshman and one car is still on display at the Eastern Museum of Motor racing in Pennsylvania. His younger days were filled with a love of football. Having been a part of the 1947 Riverside Championship Football team, and to have later played semi-pro with the Blair AC football team, it’s no wonder he was inducted to the Riverside Hall of Fame in 2004. He would later pass on this knowledge while coaching the Delanco Spartans, although it was also a reason to spend time with his sons. No matter how busy his day, he’d always make time for his kids, and later for his grandkids. From the time when his nights were spent helping his boys restore cars of their own, to when he would take the grandchildren on trips to the park or the Railroad Museum, for Paul it was always time well spent.rnrnAfter having served his country during the Korean War, he returned to Riverside. It was not long until he met a young woman named Beryl (nee Williams). By 1960 they were married, and soon their lives were blessed by their children Paul (Terri) of Rancocas Woods and James (Jennifer) of NC, and again by their grandchildren Christina, Cole and Catherine. Paul is also the brother of Harry (Shirley) of Phila., Robert (Barbara) of SC and the late Marie T.
