May 3, 1928 – March 30, 2025

Pearl E. Hartman passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025. She was 96 years old, and lived her entire life in Riverside until three years ago when she moved to Arbor Terrace Assisted Living. She had a joyful, upbeat personality, always ready to help family and friends. You’d never see her driving, but she could give you directions to anywhere you wanted to go. Throughout Peggy’s life, her bike or walking was her way around town, helping contribute to her 96 years. Peggy always kept an immaculate home and was known for her excellent cooking. She could make anything and her door was always open. She found joy in the simple things like gardening, bird watching, and even sweeping her sidewalk. Peggy and Skinny enjoyed Sunday drives together and camping trips in the summer. She was known for her dedication to family. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, never asking for anything in return. Her grandchildren affectionately knew her as “Mom-Mom,” and she loved spending time playing games with them, watching their school and sporting events, and just having them at her house. Peggy was proud to be a homemaker, not only raising her children but helping to care for her grandchildren, always with a smile.

She was a graduate of Riverside High School and longtime parishioner of St. Peter’s Church, Riverside now Jesus, the Good Shepherd, Beverly. She was a member of the Catholic Daughter’s of the Americas, the Altar Rosary Society, and the Riverside Historical Society. She volunteered in the school cafeteria, at church carnivals, church dinners, and bingo. She often baked cakes to be sold at bingo.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents: William and Pearl Grant; her loving husband of 65 years, Francis “Skinny” Hartman; her daughter, Marie O’Hanlan, her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Sandra Hartman; son-in-law, Norman Eirich; and sister, Carol Horton. Peggy is survived by her children: Donna Eirich; Helen (Kevin) Hinkson, Diane (Jim) Assante, Kristi (Mark) Nester, and son-in-law, Joseph (Patti) O’Hanlan; grandchildren: Stephanie (Chad) Smith, Lindsey Eirich, Carla (Derek) Mead, Megan (Steve) Robbins, Joseph (Nichole) O’Hanlan, Dennis (Lauren) O’Hanlan, Michael Hinkson, and Aaron, Emilie, and Ethan Nester; great-grandchildren: Norah and Macy Robbins, Cassidy, Kylie, and Ryan O’Hanlan, Peyton, Carter, and Harper Mead, Aiden, Mckenna, Caleb, and Grady O’Hanlan. Peggy was. certainly a wonderful lady, always gracious and kind. She always had a smile and it was always a pleasure to talk with her. She was the neighborhood matriarch for years. Growing up with the Hartman family was truly a blessing. I am grateful to have had the privilege of knowing her. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Hartman family.
