“I did it my way”, not only a great song but the way Sophie lived her life. Because she was so independent, and perhaps a bit stubborn, she never needed help from anyone. She not only raised seven children, she somehow found a way to work full time while doing it. During her many years as a seamstress at Century Mills in Riverside she always walked to work, regardless of the weather. In fact, since she didn’t care for driving she could be seen walking everywhere, especially to her beloved church, St. Casimir’s. Always devout in her faith, she would do anything for her parish. But, when she had time to herself, she loved playing the lottery, Bingo, hanging out with the girls at the Hawaiin Cottage and spoiling her family with her pierogies, galumpkis and rice pudding. Sophie will always be remembered by her children, her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Come celebrate Sophie’s 89 independent years (Nov. 3, 1923-Mar. 13, 2013) Monday from 9-10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM at Resurrection Parish (St. Casimir Site), Riverside. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Samaritan Hospice 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300 Marlton, NJ 08053. –
