Thelma Irene Bigwood, Long time Delran resident. She was the mother of 9, a feat that requires boundless energy. Over the years that became her thing: she was a woman in motion. And her mind stayed sharp for most of her years: Thelma was always there with a one liner. She liked to read: she could finish a novel in a day. During her working years she ran a crew for Omark Industries (KSM) soldering circuit boards. After she and her husband retired she did a little travelling in and out of the country and her later years found her off to Florida where she volunteered making crafts with the handicapped in the morning before heading off to lunch with her friends. When Thelma was a mom she coached softball with her friend Shirly, did a little bowling and occasionally headed off to the casinos: temporary escapes from the kids.
She shared a 69-year marriage with her late husband, Bill and she is survived by her children, Barbara (George) Downing, John (Lynne) Bigwood, Steven (Krisse) Bigwood, and Garry Bigwood; her son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Robert Wilson and Dawn Steedle Bigwood; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her children, Elizabeth Wilson, William Harold Bigwood III, Harold William Bigwood, William Bigwood, and April Bigwood.
Come celebrate 93 years Saturday 9-10:30 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where there will be a 10:30 a.m. service. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Cinnaminson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer Assoc. (alz.org) or a charity of your choice.
