Tom Laverty passed away on Sunday, August 12. The oldest of six siblings, Tom was a lifelong Delanco resident. A man of many interests and talents, Tom’s earliest passions included surfing and the beach. He followed in his father’s footsteps with a career as a Master Plumber for over 40 years. Ever the perfectionist, Tom ran his own company and worked on everything from new homes to residential upgrades and repairs. Married with three children, Tom was a very proud dad. He was his kids’ biggest fan, and never missed a game or event. He coached sports and served as President of the Delanco Youth Sports Association for over 20 years. When he wasn’t working or spending time with his family, Tom loved being outdoors. Any given day you would find him gardening, woodworking, customizing his truck and taking long walks with his dog. In recent years, the highlight of Tom’s week was spending time with his two beloved grandsons.
Together since they met at Holy Cross, Tom and his wife Mary Ann (nee Klopfstein) were married for nearly 40 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their children Tom IV (Willow), Ryan (Jen) and Erin, and grandchildren Matthew and Colin. He is also survived by his parents, Tom and Connie Laverty, his siblings Maryanne, Steven, Patrick (Roseanne), Dianne (Chris), and Barry (Solveig), numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
