Verna Adkisson

Verna Adkisson

In loving memory of Verna Adkisson who passed away April 25, 2026. She was surrounded by her immediate family.

She was born ‘Verna Ruth Seimes’ June 28th 1948 in Riverside NJ. Verna was the youngest of 3 kids. She is survived by her husband Ray Adkisson, and her daughters Stephanie (husband Jeff Hirt and Children Emily and Rachel Hirt) and Lisa (husband Jason Lott and children Nathan and Paige). Cousins, Alison King and Matthew Coyle. She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Verna (Coyle) Seimes and brothers Floyd and David Seimes

Early in life, she lived with her family in Bellmawr and later, the family moved to Brigantine, where she spent days on the beach and attended and graduated Atlantic City High School in 1966. During high school, Verna received her cosmetology license. She always had a love for fashion. In high school, Verna met Ray at Seahorse Lancers drum and bugle corps. A short 3 years after meeting, they were married on April 22, 1967 at the Brigantine Presbyterian Church. After her mother passed away, she spent many of her days in Riverside, on Progress street, spending quality time with her aunts and uncles.

Verna and Ray raised 2 daughters (Stephanie and Lisa) in Moorestown. During this time, Verna spent her days as a hands-on mom, participating in school activities, baking, cooking and decorating her home that was a welcome place to all the neighborhood kids.

In the mid 1990’s, Ray and Verna moved to Cherry Hill. It was here that she would live out her days as an active grandmom/ Nana to 4 grandkids (Nathan, Emily, Paige and Rachel).

Verna enjoyed sitting by the pool, decorating her home, cooking soups, trips to the salon, visits to the jersey shore, spending time with friends, and overall enjoying life.

“We don’t stop loving, we don’t forget. We don’t stop hurting, we don’t get over it. We journey forward living, the best we can. We hold them in our hearts until we’re together again”
